Membership All memberhsips of BGCC become due and payable prior to 1st July each year.  From 1st January each year, new members are able to join for the remainder of the financial year, i.e., to 30th June.  After that date, a full year's membership is due. Full year and six months' memberships are available in both Competitive and Non-Competitive categories. Three months' Trial Membership is available for those wishing to give canoeing a a try. Singe Event membership is available for those wishing to enter an event and those wanting a once-off try at canoeing. 24 hour Relay Challenge The next Australia-wide 24 hour Relay Challenge will take place on the weekend of 18th/19th October, 2008.  Traditionally the Challenge is between club teams of 6x TK1 paddlers completing as many 5 km laps as they can in the 24 hours.  But over recent years the rules have been changed to allow other boat-types; and the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic handicap system has been used to enable a comparison between different boat-types, sex and age classes.  The team rules have also been relaxed, to allow any number of paddlers in a team, right down to solo paddlers. The aim of the event is to have paddlers from anywhere in Australia paddling on their own patch of water, against other paddlers anywhere else around Australia.  But if there are some clubs who would like to share their water for the duration of the competition, then this adds to their competitive/fun atmosphere.  The more teams from each club, the better the comp!  If any club would like to travel to Canberra to paddle with us on the Molonglo River from Molonglo Reach, then they are very welcome to do so. For further information on the event and a full set of race rules and entry forms, email <info@bgcc.org.au> or phone 0418 861 613.
