The paddling and landcare group that I am involved with "Willow Warriors" is running a willow control paddle on the Wingecarribee River this Saturday and Sunday 15 & 16 May 2010. SCA is only releasing 200MLD down the river which is only half the flows needed to paddle the Joadja section. We are paddling through Wallaby Rock from Berrima down to an access point that we have organised on private property because we are helping remove willows along the river. It is only grade 2 at this level and starts out with a two kilometres of flat water where some of the willows still remain. there is then a kilometre of easy grade one rapids before the river starts to drop into a canyon with a series of 4 one meter drops followed by another two rapids and then a scenic ironstone canyon. We have 38 people on the water working and then paddling including a group of 15 paddlers from Rivers Canoe Club who are joining us for the day. You can see photos of this section in the Wingecarribee River activity photos pages for Wallaby rocks the on our web site www.willowwarriors.org.au. Contact Jeff Cottrell at willowwarriors@optusnet.com.au.

I have posted something on the Kayak Canberra web site but would appreciate if you to circulate this to other paddlers and members of Burley Griffin Canoe Club.
