This year BGCC has been given a $ for $ grant by the ACT Government Department of Sport and Recreation to allow us to build on to the end of our club shed - to have for a small meeting area and to accommodate the growing fleet of both club and private boats.

Since the presentation of this grant, BGCC has been hit with many unbudgeted fees from various ACT Government departments.  We have now been told by ACT Parks,Conservation and Lands there will be an annual rental of $7/ sq m, as well as application fees of $1200 for the planned building approval, plus the requirement for us to install new meter boxes for our electricity and water at an approximate cost of $2000.

 

This is beginning to look like a nightmare of red tape - with the outcome of not being able to afford the grant!  Perhaps we need to have a formal handing-back of the grant to the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Mr Barr?
