Nelligen
The BGCC recreational paddle at Nelligen/Bateman's Bay on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th February was enjoyed by a small group of club paddlers.
White Water
We are hoping to do some beginner level white water on Sunday 14th March, either at Childowla (near Bookham), or on the Tumut River.
Please register your interest in either of these events as we will need to organise boats.
Ocean Ski at Merimbula
If you have a ski of sorts (doesn't have to be an Epic) why not join Scott and Tom (and others) at Merimbula for a weekend of surf. Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st March. Possibility of cheap accommodation depending on numbers.

Social Canoe Polo, an algae free option for improving your whitewater skills! |

|
If you enjoyed the club Penrith Whitewater Stadium taster and want to continue and/or are interested in trying canoe polo, beginner/social polo will be held as part of Wednesday night canoe polo at Tuggerangong Pool 7.30pm-9.00pm if there is sufficient interest. Wednesday canoe polo commences on 3 February.
Whilst now a canoeing discipline in its own right, Canoe Polo was established many decades ago as a means of continuing whitewater canoeing training over the winter months. Polo develops/maintains whitewater skills such as balance, rolling, (especially in unexpected situations) and boat control (being where you want to be when you want to be). It also provides paddling fitness.
If there are sufficient numbers of beginner/social players non competitive social games will be held. There is no need to be able to roll and participants will be shown how to “fall out” in a safe manner.
The cost is $10/person (pool hire) and $3.50/person pool entry. Club boats and gear are available.
Please contact Sue via the club e-mail (

BGCC TRIATHLON ASSISTANCE
BGCC earns most of its income used to buy new club equipment by acting as safety assistance to swimmers in ACT triathlon events over the warmer months.
Our main task is to distribute boats around the swimming course to provide prompt assistance (or rescue) if required, but without unnecessarily impeding competitors. In addition, a boat might have to lead each wave of swimmers round the course, or we may be asked to position a boat at turning marks to prevent swimmers cutting corners.
To learn more about how to be a triathlon-swim helper, read the "Paddlers' Triathlon Guide" attachment, or in the sub-menu.
REMEMBER
As well as providing a formal assistance service, we can help fellow athletes enjoy their sport by providing understanding and encouragement.

We will be running a Ladies Paddling Group on Tuesday mornings 7 a.m. (on the water by 7:15!!). Starting Tuesday 8th December. We'll do a bit of technique and a bit of exercise (nothing too strenous, just to get the heart rate up a little), and hopefully find some new paddling companions. 5 - 7 km, please let me know if you require a club boat. Suit beginners/recreational paddlers.
